100 graduates to benefit SURE-P programme in Gombe

At least no fewer than 100 graduates in Gombe state are to benefit from Subsidy and Reinvestment Program (SURE-P) in order to be self reliant.

The Deputy Director in charge of monitoring and evaluation of the graduates’ internship scheme, Fola Jimo stated this yesterday in Gombe at a workshop for graduates internship scheme.

He said that the program was meant to engaged graduates to enable them develop their skills and also bridge the gap between schools and labour market.

He said graduates internship scheme (GIS) would provide graduates with something to do and where to go so as not to be idle before they are fully employed, adding that school curricular would be a major priority that would enable them have internal skill in order to make them have sense of belonging  in the  society.

Speaking shortly in an interview  at the event, some of the participants Ibrahim Ayuba and Esther Adamu applauded the program floated by SURE-P for graduates and said they would utilized the training to build a  future for themselves in whatever vocation they are trained.

According to them, one  hundred youths are participating in the program across different disciplines and they believe that after one year graduates internship scheme, the beneficiaries would immensely improve their skills, noting that with such innovation embarked upon by the federal government specially for youths, unemployment would be reduced to its barest minimum and would add value to the economy.
