2027: Yilwatda’s wife rallies support for Tinubu, advocates passage of Reserved Seats Bill

Ahead of the 2027 elections, the Patron of the Women’s Leadership Network (WLN), Dr. Martina Yilwatda, has called on Nigerian women to unite in support of President Bola Tinubu, because of his commitment to women’s empowerment, inclusion, and national development.

Prof. Yilwatda who is also the wife of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda made the call in Jos, while addressing hundreds of women from her support group shortly after the funeral of her husband’s mother, Mama Nana Lydia.

She assured that the well-being and interests of women would continue to receive priority under the Tinubu-led administration.

She added that President Tinubu has demonstrated a genuine commitment to advancing gender equality and would not hesitate to assent to the Reserved Seats for Women Bill once it is passed by the National Assembly.

“A vote for the APC is a vote for progress, growth, and sustainable development,” Yilwatda stated. “To my fellow women, this is your government. President Tinubu represents the renewed hope and opportunities we have long yearned for.”

Prof. Yilwatda thanked the women who from across the country to condole with her family; even as she pledged to continue to work closely with her husband to promote the empowerment and advancement of women all over the country.

In her remarks, the National Coordinator, Women’s Leadership Network, Dr. Fauziya Buhari-Ado, described Prof. Yilwatda as a visionary leader whose passion for women’s inclusion continues to inspire others. She reassured on the Network’s commitment to advocating for the passage of the Reserved Seats Bill.

She said; “Our organization brings together women from diverse political, professional, and social backgrounds. The Reserved Seats Bill has received strong backing from the Deputy Speaker, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Senate President, the APC National Chairman, and President Tinubu himself—all of whom support gender inclusivity. Once passed and signed into law, this reform will mark a major milestone for Nigerian women and a significant achievement for our party.”

Also speaking, chieftains of the WLN, Deborah J.H. Oriaku, and Princess Nikky Onyeri who represent Association of Women Traditional Title Holders in Nigeria, lauded President Tinubu and the APC National Chairman for being gender-sensitive leaders who have continually demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance and women’s representation.
