The first batch of Nigeria pilgrims that performed this year hajj will be airlifted back home today Monday 27th August 2018.
The first flight, to be operated by Flynas airline, will convey Kogi state pilgrims to Nnamdi Azikiwe International airport in Abuja. This was made known yesterday by 2018 Hajj air carriers after an operational meeting with NAHCON in Jedda, Saudi Arabia.
It could be recalled that NAHCON Chairman, Barr Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammed has earlier said that “Kogi state pilgrims will be airlifted in the first flight back home based on the first out-first-out policy” of the Commission.
In a sad development, an Arab national committed suicide by throwing himself off the roof of the Grand Mosque Security authorities are investigating the incident.

“Two other pilgrims who were wounded in the incident are in a stable condition in hospital,” said Ahmad bin Muhammad Al-Mansouri, spokesman for the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques.
Security authorities are investigating the incident, he added.
It is, however, not the first of such incident. In June, a Frenchman committed suicide at the Grand Mosque.
And last year, a Saudi tried to set himself on fire in front of the Ka’aba — the square stone building at the center of the mosque compound — but was stopped by security forces.
Islam, like other monotheistic religions, prohibits suicide.
