Masari sets agenda for NGF’s security C’ttee

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has asked participants of a technical committee on security for the Northern Governors Forum to focus attention on finding solutions to three key areas of banditry,
and cattle rustling, kidnappings.
Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari was speaking when he declared open the Northern Governors Security Technical Subcommittee meeting held in Katsina.
The Governor requested the participants to bring forth suggestions on how to control the borders because of the three key insecurity challenges that are daily being imported from neighboring countries.
He also asked the participants to accord roles to states and also what should be done at the local government level.
Governor Aminu Masari expressed the belief that participants have the sufficient experience to appropriately Advise accordingly, stressing that they should not advise superficially.
He said the participants outcome of the meeting should be based on the limited resources and facilities available to the states for concrete solutions.
Earlier, the secretary to the government of Katsina State , Dr Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa in a welcome address expressed the hope that the meeting would discuss thoroughly the issues that would help to end the current insecurity challenges in the North.
He clarified that the sub technical committee was set up by the security committee of the Northern Governor’s Forum and not the whole Governors.
In a vote of thanks, the former commissioner of police for katsina and Kano states and current special Adviser on security to Gombe State, CP Muhammad Wakili appreciated the Northern Governors Forum for taking the issues of security seriously and giving it the desired support and attention.
He said during his stay in Katsina, no request he made on security that was turned down by the Governor.
Therefore, CP Wakili said he was not surprised that Northern Governors Forum appointed Governor Aminu Masari as Chairman of the Security Subcommittee.
He assured that participants at the meeting would give in their best for security challenges to be overcome completely.
