Governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has directed for reopening of primary, secondary schools and tertiary institutions across the state.
The Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, in a statement on Saturday said the governor had approved for the reopening of all tertiary institutions in the state by January 18.
Similarly, the Commissioner of Education, Muhammad Kiru, in a statement by the ministry’s spokesman, Aliyu Yusuf said Ganduje had approved the new Academic Calender for the 2020/2021 session for Public and Private Primary and Post Primary Schools.
According to the statement, with the approval of the calender, the state government had therefore slated 18 January as an official date for the resumption of all day primary and secondary students in both public and private schools across the state.
He explained that boarding schools students are to resume on January 17.
“The commissioner however urged parents to ensure that their wards have resumed at the approved dates, further urging the school authorities and students to adhere strictly to the protocols of the Covid-19.
“He therefore expressed appreciation to the parents for being law abiding whenever government issued an order, hoping that the tempo be sustained,” said the statement.
