A group under the auspices of the Kaduna K-23 Movement, consisting of representatives from the 23 LGAs in Kaduna has demanded the prosecution of the Former Governor of Kaduna State Mal. Nasir El-Rufai following the allegations of corrupt practices levied against his eight-year administration.
This was contained in a statement signed by Amb Idris Musa and Comrade Bashir Bello, President and General Secretary of the Movement, respectively, and made available to the media in Kaduna, yesterday.
The statement stated that the voluminous report released by the State House of Assembly, which is in public domain has left no stone unturned in revealing the financial scandal that the administration was involved in.
The report revealed, that between May 2015 when Mal Nasir El-Rufai became Governor, till his exit in May 2013, the state had incurred a liability on domestic and foreign loans to the tune of N98,912,000,000.00 and $758,141,699 respectively.
Amb. Idris Musa stressed that further findings revealed that the loans were mostly obtained without regard to extant financial rules and due process and were mostly diverted for uses other than those for which they were intended.
These frightening revelations, according to him, reveal the kleptocracy that characterized the administration as many of the terminated employees have died out of frustration while awaiting their settlements.
