ADC House of Reps aspirant, Maniru Shuni, defects to APC in Sokoto
From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, the political landscape in Sokoto State has continued to witness defections, particularly from the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The latest development is the defection of a House of Representatives aspirant for the Bodinga/Dange Shuni/Tureta Federal Constituency, Hon. Maniru Ibrahim Shuni, popularly known as Barden Shuni, from the ADC to the APC.
This was confirmed in a statement signed by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, to Sen..Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
Explaining his decision, Hon. Maniru Shuni cited what he described as a lack of foresight and effective leadership within his former party.
He also said his decision to join the APC was influenced by the developmental programmes and projects being implemented by the administration of Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmed Aliyu.
Receiving the new APC member at his Asokoro residence in Abuja, the leader of the APC in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, welcomed Hon. Maniru Shuni to the party and assured him of equal treatment and inclusion.
Senator Wamakko reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to supporting programmes and development initiatives aimed at improving the living conditions of the people of Sokoto State.
Also present at the reception were the Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi; the Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; and other party stakeholders.
