Makinde/Daura Campaign to Tinubu: Your 30 Days N60 Fuel Discount Deceitful, Failed Media Stunt

The Makinde/Daura Presidential Campaign Organization (MDPCO) has described the N60 discount on the excessive N1,400 per liter pump price of fuel at NNPC filling stations announced by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration as offensive and provocative attempt to beguile Nigerians.

The organization said this on Thursday in a statement by its Director of Strategic Communications, Richard Ihediha in Abuja. The MDPCO described it as a slap on the face of the suffering citizens who, at the time they expected an impactful reduction in the astronomically high pump price of petrol, the Tinubu government came out on national media to announce an infinitesimal and ‘microscopic’ discount of N60.

It said, “The question is, why is that the Tinubu administration that is so quick in carrying out geometric increase in the price of petrol by up to 733% is now embarking on arithmetic ratio in decrease with a teeny N60 in a desperate attempt to score a cheap political point just because elections are around the corner.

“It is indeed appalling that a government that deliberately caused an inexplicable increase in the pump of petrol is now embarking on an insulting reduction that cannot add value but rather create wide division amongst the people.

“The fact that the minuscule reduction will only be on scantly located NNPC owned retail filling stations and for a period of one month clearly shows that the Tinubu administration has come to its wits end and become bereft of solutions.

“Moreover, the offer to sell our crude oil to domestic refineries at dollar rate of $80 per barrel is distasteful and offensive to our status as an oil producing nation.

“In any case, Nigerians cannot be swayed by this act of deceit and failed media stunt to change their revolve to vote out the dishonest, insensitive and grossly inept Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration in January, 2027.

“What Nigerians desired and deserve is an impactful reduction in fuel price and not this dishonest act to hoodwink citizens ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“This explains why Nigerians are determined to vote in an honest, resourceful and responsive government that will effectively and transparently harness and utilize our natural resources, for the benefit of all under Engr Seyi Makinde, the Presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM)”, the statement concluded.
