Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) will adopt an issue-based campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections, focusing on achievements, policy proposals and development plans rather than personal attacks and insults.
Yusuf gave the assurance on Thursday during the inauguration of the management team of the APC 2027 presidential and gubernatorial campaign council in Kano.
The governor said the party would engage voters by highlighting its achievements, presenting its plans for the future and listening to the concerns and expectations of the electorate.
“We are going to campaign based on what the APC leaders have done, not campaign full of insults,” he said.
Yusuf explained that members of the campaign council were selected based on their capacity to discharge their assigned responsibilities and contribute to the party’s electoral success.
He urged them to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure that Kano State records the highest number of votes for the APC in the 2027 elections.
“Kano should garner a lot of votes for President Tinubu. The number of votes the APC gets in Kano should be the highest in the country. This is possible if you go out and campaign as required,” the governor said.
Describing the council members as key representatives of the party, Yusuf urged them to demonstrate commitment, discipline and dedication in their efforts to secure victory for the APC and President Bola Tinubu.
“The members of this council are APC soldiers, and I urge you to carry out your responsibilities with commitment and work towards the party’s victory,” he said.
The governor also encouraged party members not to be intimidated by opposition parties or allow fear to undermine their campaign activities, expressing confidence in the APC’s position in Kano State.
He further appealed to party members and supporters whose names were not included in the initial campaign council list to remain calm, explaining that additional appointments and subcommittees would be announced.
Yusuf called for unity and sustained mobilisation among party members, stressing the need for collective efforts to strengthen the APC’s support base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
