Following an anti-Tinubu protest at the National Assembly by persons purpoted to be representing the indigenous people in Abuja, a civil rights organization, Empowerment for Unemployment Youth Initiative (EUYI), has alleged that, Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, the Mandate Secretary for Agricuulture and Rural Development Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is the brain behind the protests with the aim of pitching the President against the indigenous people ahead of the 2027 elections.

EUYI alleges that Mr. Abdullahi Suleiman Ango in collusion with some opposition elements are working against, and undermining the administration of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the FCT while hiding under the banner of indigenous peoples rights.

Recall that on the 21st of May, 2025, a group of protesters purportedly working on the orders of the Mandate Secretary and in connivance with an opposition Senator barricaded the National Assembly, protesting against the appointment of Amb. Solomon Adodo as Board Member, North Central Development Commission (NCDC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a letter of petition to the Honourable Minister of the FCT, which was signed by Comrade Danesi Momoh Prince and Comrade Igwe Ude-umanta; National Coordinator and
National Secretary of EUYI respectively, the CSO wondered why a serving civil servant who should be loyal to his employer will choose to deliberately undermine the President, siding rather with opposition elements.

“It is with patroitic zeal that we write to lay our complaint and recommend the sack of Mr. Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, an employee of the federal government under your watch for sabotaging the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, threatening indigenous insurrection and working with opposition figures to truncate the renewed hope agenda in the FCT.

“Just last week, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in his unquestioned wisdom and exercise of his powers approved the appointment of Comrade Solomon Adodo as a Board Member, NCDC to fast track development in the FCT and the North Central region at large.

“Adodo, who by all known Nigerian laws is of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) extraction, has come under criticism from sponsored opposition elements who have invented the term “Indigenous “ to question his appointment and disparage Mr. President for what they termed imposition.

“Despite calls for restraint and a strong condemnation of their divisive antics from civil society organizations, youth groups as well as indigenous groups and residents of the FCT, some misguided persons staged a protest against Mr. President and his appointee, Comrade Adodo at the National Assembly.

“Though they were dispersed by the Nigerian Police obviously for constituting unnecessary nuisance and obstructing access to the National Assembly Complex, we received credible information that the protest was sponsored by, the Senator representing the FCT. That is to be expected from an opposition Senator who is projecting her supporters to benefit from a political project they rejected with their votes.

“Very strangely however, facts emerged with eye witnesses that the FCTA Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Suleiman Abdullahi Ango worked, and is working with the opposition Senator on this project. In fact he jointly sponsored and was sighted at the protest ground, dishing out instructions.

“We, therefore, find it reprehensible for an appointee of Mr. President, Mr. Ango to join opposition forces to work against the appointment carefully made by Mr. President. Indeed, some of the statements issued during this said protest denigrates the person and wisdom of President Tinubu, while others are clear threats of riots, insurrection, and communal opposition against Mr. President by this group who claim indigenous status. We reject this in its entirety.

“Consequently, we recommend the sack of Mr. Abdullahi Suleiman Ango for breaching civil service rules by clandestinely sponsoring and supporting political engagements to undermine his employer. He has no business working for a man he is acting against. This is betrayal of trust and it’s antithetical to the spirit of renewed hope agenda and unbecoming of an appointee of Mr. President”, the petition concluded.
