ACReSAL, HESCO take 9,000 seedlings planting campaign in Zamfara Schools

A Non Governmental Organization, Health Standard Concern Organization (HESCO) in collaboration with the Zamfara State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project, has taken a 9,000 tree planting campaign to 30 schools across Kaura Namoda, Bungudu and Gusau LGAs.
Speaking during the campaign in Gusau on Monday, the HESCO Program Manager, Murtala Iliyasu, said the organization is committed to working with the ACreSAL Project and other partners to ensure culture of environmental responsibility among young people and communities across Zamfara State.
According to Iliyasu, the continuation of the tree planting campaign was aimed at making schools’ environments green and battle away desertification as well as strengthening environmental education among pupils and students studying at both the targeted primary and secondary schools across the catchment areas.
“The exercise covered 30 schools across the two catchment areas of the three ACreSAL,10 schools per local government comprising primary, junior, and senior secondary schools making 30 benefitting schools carefully been selected to ensure broad community reach and participation.”
