The All Progressive Congress (APC), after a marathon meeting that lasted close to five hours behind closed doors, has fixed its National Convention on March 26 at Eagle Square, while the inauguration of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will be held on the 31st of March.

A news release by the National Secretary of the party’s Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), John James Akpanudoedehe, said the activities leading to the National Convention will commence on February 24th and end on March 26.

Fielding questions from journàlists after he issued the date for the national convention, Akpanudoedehe said “After deliberation and agreement with the CECPC, we have agreed and approved that the activities of the national convention commence from the 24th of March and terminates on the 26th of March.

“The convention activities commence on the 24th of February and it will terminates at Eagles Square on the 26th of March. In between the convention, we have agreed to have zonal congresses”.

Meanwhile, the timetable released to journàlists said “Monday 28th February, Publication of National Convention Sub-Committees. Wednesday 9th – Friday 11th March, Sales of Forms. Tuesday 15th – Thursday 17th March, Screening of Aspirants.

“Saturday 19th March, Screening Appeal. Monday 21st March, Adoption of Appeal Report. Thursday 24th – Friday 25th March, Accreditation. Saturday 26th March, Convention. Tuesday 29th March,

Convention Appeal. Wednesday, 30th March, Adoption of Appeal Report and Thursday 31st March, Inauguration.”

Also with regard to the zonal congresses which will hold in-between February 24 and March 26, the statement issued by the Secretary said “Pursuant to Article 12.6 of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Constitution, the Party hereby releases its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Zonal Congresses across the Six (6) Geo-political Zones as follows:

“Thursday 24th February, Publication of Zonal Committees. Saturday 26th February, Meeting of Zonal Stakeholders. Monday 28th February – Thursday 3rd March, Sales of forms for Zonal positions. Saturday 5th March, Screening of Zonal Aspirants.

“Sunday 6th March, Screening Appeal. Tuesday 8th March, Adoption of Screening Report. Saturday 12th March, Zonal Congresses. Monday, 14th March, Zonal Congresses Appeal. Wednesday, 16th March, Adoption of Appeal Report.”
