Bauchi state Government has refuted media reports of the alleged shutting down of schools by insurgents in Ganjuwa and Darazo Local Government Areas of the state.
It was reported that some insurgents, who have been staying around Ganjuwa and Darazo LGAs ordered the closure of primary schools in the surrounding villages, leaving dispensary and hospitals to operate.
Eye witness said some of the insurgents were carrying AK 47 riffles.
However, the state’s Commissioner of Information, Engr Mohammed Damina refuted the alleged reports which was published in social media.
According to him, “All our schools are open and both teachers and students continued with their end of term academic activities without any problem.
Also denying the allegation, the Principal Public Relations Officer of the State Primary Education Board, Kabiru Ali Kobi said, “it is not true, if there is such incidents, our education secretaries will have reported to us, but we did not receive any, I have confirmed it is not true”.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Haruna Mohammed pledged to inquire in order to give correct information on the incident.
A reliable security source and senior official of the state’s ministry of education also refuted the report, saying that, “it is totally false; as a matter of fact, the schools are writing exams now”.
