The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), governorship candidate in Benue State, Michael Aondoakaa, has selected 38-year-old medical doctor, Dr Oyije Ochaekiti Ogbenjuwa, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The announcement, made during the party’s congress in Makurdi, signals the PDP’s attempt to combine political experience with youthful representation as preparations intensify for the 2027 polls in Benue State.
Aondoakaa, a former Attorney-General of the Federation, used the occasion to outline what he described as the major priorities of his proposed administration if elected governor.
Top on the agenda, according to him, is tackling insecurity and ending persistent attacks and killings affecting communities across the state.
He promised that his administration would focus on guaranteeing the safety of lives and property through what he described as lasting security measures.
The PDP candidate also pledged to revitalise agriculture and rural development, stressing that Benue must reclaim and strengthen its reputation as the “Food Basket of the Nation.”
Other priorities highlighted by Aondoakaa include youth and women empowerment through job creation and enterprise support, improved healthcare delivery, better educational standards and infrastructure development.
According to him, his administration would also create a business-friendly environment capable of attracting industrial growth and expanding economic opportunities within the state.
He further assured party supporters that his government would be driven by justice, transparency and accountability, while promoting reconciliation and unity across political, ethnic and sectional lines in Benue State.
