Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA and the Ben ue State University Teaching Hospital, BSUTH on Thursday signed a Memoranda of Understanding, MoU to alleviate the suffering of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the State through access to essential and quality healthcare services.
The MoU was signed at the Teaching Hospital Makurdi between the Executive Secretary, SEMA, Sir James Iorpuu and the Chief Medical Director, BSUTH Dr. Stephen Hwande.
The SEMA boss said the plight of the IDP camps across Makurdi and Guma LGAs is one of the most pressing humanitarian challenges facing the State at the moment, noting that these vulnerable populations face numerous difficulties, with access to healthcare being one of the most critical.
He lámented at the situation where many IDPs are unable to access medical attention urgently due to financial constraints and logistical barriers, staring it is for this reason that the agency is partnering with BSUTH to improve the health of the IDPs.
