The Executive chairman of Kwali Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Hon. Ibrahim Daniel, has commended the Federal Government for locating the silo project at Sheda area of the council.
Daniel, who made the commendation in an interview with newsmen, during the commissioning of the new 100,000 matron-tones silo in Kwali, said that the silo would boost the economic lives of the farmers in the territory.
He expressed joy that the silo would pave way for the farmers to produce more crops without going through hardship.
He added that the silo would serve as a ground for storage as well as preservation for the FCT farmers, especially the residents of Kwali, at all times.
The council boss, however, also used the occasion to appeal to Nigerians to support the government programmes and policies for the overall development of the country.
Speaking earlier, the minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, assured the farmers that government of the day will not relent in its efforts to transform agricultural sector for the betterment of the farmers.
Adesina, reassured that government would continue to place emphasis on the modernization of Nigerian farmers, to enable them to carry out their farm operations with ease.
Some of the farmers, who spoke with Peoples Daily during the event, thanked the government for spreading the silos project across the country, while appealing to the government to provide fertilizers especially during the raining season on time.
