Council doles out relief materials to fire victims in Abaji

The authorities of Abaji Area Council, have donated relief materials to victims of a recent fire incident at Pandagi community of the council.
The relief materials, which included bags of guinea corn, millet, maize and rice, cartons of Maggi, bags of salts and jerry cans of palm oil.
It gathered that a mysterious fire outbreak erased some huts, belonging to some Hausa dry season farmers at the community and destroyed their valuables.
While making the donation, the leadership of the Council expressed shock and sadness over the fire incident.
The council sympathized with the victims, saying that he received the news of the fire incident, while he was away from Abaji town, just as he thanked God that no life was affected by the inferno.
The Abaji chairman, Abdulraman Ajiya, promised to provide more conducive shelter, even as he advised the victims to ensure that they clear the surrounding bushes in the community to avoid reoccurrence.
Receiving the items, the leader of Hausa residents in the community, Suleiman Adamu, while narrating how the fire incident occurred, said they were in the farm when a native of the community ran to inform them of fire outbreak.
He said before they ran back home, the fire had already burnt down all the huts, they erected, adding that valuables materials, such as clothes, water pumping machines, undisclosed sums of money and food stuffs, were burnt to ashes.
“It was exactly 12:34 pm while we are in the farm, but we thank God that no life was lost and we also thank the native of the community who responded to evacuate some little belongings inside the huts,” he said.
On his part, the chairman of the Hausa traders, Alhaji Suleiman Gajara, who
accompanied the council chairman to sympathize with the victims, appealed for more conducive shelter to the affected fire victims.
