The FCTA Ministerial Enforcement Task Team on precautionary measures against Coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19 pandemic has disclosed that the arrest of Manager of a Turkish Furniture/Quarry firm for allegedly contravening presidential cessation of movement directive also known as stay-at-home order.
Recall that following the confirmation of tens of COVID-19 cases in the nation’s capital city, the Federal government imposed two weeks stay-at-home order in the Territory, to help contain the spread of the dreaded epidemic.
However, explaining the raid that resulted in the arrest of some foreigners working at the firm, the Task Team Chairman, Ikharo Attah told newsmen that the Zecerced Quarry, only permitted by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to operate the quarry construction site along Arab road, despite the prevailing lockdown order was found operating a furniture making factory in the area located in Kubwa.
Attah, who frowned at the violation of the COVID-19 stay-at-home order and vowed that the Operational manager of the firm, a Turkish national, simply identified as Mahmood will be made to face the law.
According to him: “Yes, the FCTA task force team arrested Turkish national in Kubwa. They were operating an illegal bigger Quarry in Kubwa by Arrab road.
“They have the permission of FCTA to use the quarry work to construct roads, but the illegal part of it that they now opened a big factory inside the quarry site for furniture making.
“The permission from the FCTA is to do quarry work. We now went there and we have arrested their operational Manager by name Mr. Mahmood who is a Turkish national. The quarry and the furniture factory are in the same location. They are using the permission for the quarry to operate the furniture factory”.
It gathered that while the Turkish national, has been handed over to the FCT police command for prosecution.
Also, over ten persons were seen working at the furniture factory which has been closed down until further investigation.
