Delta traditional rulers back Okowa on no land for cattle colonies

The Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers has flayed the Federal Government over cattle colonies, insisting on “No land for cattle colonies”.
In a statement issued and signed by the chairman of the council, Obi of Owa Kingdom, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor; a copy made available to our reporter, said the council throw its weight behind the position of the State Government on the non-availability of land for a cattle colony in the state, adding that the topography of the state, old with upland/riverine challenges, had it extremely impossible for land to be available for such venture.
The Traditional Rulers however called on the State Government to forward a bill to the State House of Assembly for a legislation that will be enforceable to give a legal bulkings to the position of government on matter.
The statement explained that due to the desire of government to promote agriculture through the engagement of youths in farming, and other agricultural purposes, the issue of land was so dear to the people of the state, adding: “there is immense pressure on the available land in the state, at least for now, considering the huge direct investment on agriculture by investors, courtesy of the state government”. It insisted; “No land for the establishment of cattle colonies in Delta State, and all the traditional rulers are on the same page with the state government.
