Despite losing 2023 election, Kano Rep, Hafizu Kawu, completes unfinished constituency projects

Date:

From Mustapha Adamu, Kano

The road project, which was facilitated by Hafizu Kawu, former member representing Tarauni Federal Constituency at House of Representatives has been continued even as the lawmaker is not currently serving.
The project, worth N2.6 billion, was commissioned by Kawu, the then member representing Tarauni federal constituency in Kano state.
The former legislator facilitated the project through the Federal Ministry of Works.
The road, which is about 3 kilometers long that links Court Road, Karkasara Quarters, Darmanawa and end at Naibawa Yankatako by Zaria Road, has been in deplorable condition for years.
It was observed that the project had stopped immediately after Kawu left the red Chamber, following his defeat in the February 2023 general elections to NNPP’s Mukhtar Yarima.
However, despite leaving office, the contractors had been back to site and the work is ongoing at it nears completion.
Speaking to newsmen in Kano on Wednesday, the former lawmaker said the project had been continued and it is at more 90% completion level.
According to him, despite leaving the House of Representatives, he still pursued to ensure the project is 100 percent completed for the benefit of his constituents.
He said; “even though i am not a member now, that will not stop me from contributing to the development of my constituency.
“I facilitated this constituency project during my time as member, and even when i am no longer at the house, i did not rest on my ores until i see the completion of this giant project.
“I am happy it is at more than 90% completion level. I commend the Ministry of Works for this kind gesture.
“I also assure the good people of Tarauni Federal Constituency of my resolve and commitment to their development even when I am out of office. It is my constituency and proud of it,” he said.
The road project had been completed at Court Road to Karkasara, Darmanawa and Naibawa Yankatako, while one lane of Court Road to AKTH Junction had been completed, as the work is ongoing on the other lane.
