DG NOA sues for peace, unity among communities

The Director-General, National Orientation Agency, Dr. Garba Abari has
called on communities in Buni-Yadi, Gujba local government area of Yobe state to embrace peace, unity and progress in all their lives and activities.
He made the call during a one-day interactive dialogue with communities during which he enjoined them to, as a matter of importance to peace, go back to norms, ethics and national values that includes discipline, dedication, love, honesty, integrity, religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence.
Represented at the occasion by the state director of the agency, pointed out no Nigerian is settler in any community he or she finds himself or herself and so should be treated as part of the community he resides irrespective of religious, tribal or political affiliation.
“We must appreciate the contributions of one another in ensuring peace and progress wherever we find ourselves,” he stressed.
In his welcome address during the occasion, the state director of NOA in Yobe state, Alh. Wakil Kaku called on security agencies in the area to continue with their job in combating terrorism, such as the Boko Haram terrorists in the state, which is visible in the reducing and complete defeat of the insurgents in the state.
Those in attendance includes, the chief Imam, representatives of the Christian association, youth and women leaders, and the vigilante group who took time encouraging parents, and traditional leaders to ensure proper, good child upbringing and to do anything possible to prevent their children from being inducted into association with terrorists or drug addicting groups as well as being used by evil minded politicians.
Doing this, he said, would ensure an enduring peace in the communities now and in the generations to come.
In his remarks during the meeting, the chairman of Gujba local government council, Alh. Kyari Batarama, stressing the need for peace pointed out that no community or nation can aspire to greatness in an atmosphere devoid of peace.
While commending NOA for organizing the dialogue, he called on participants to pay rapt attention to what would be discussed so as to understand what is required and how to pursue peace.
