United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF and Niger state ministry of education, science and technology has identified delay in the release of counterpart funds as an impediment to the implementation of programmes in 2017.
This was part of the constraints identified at the ministry in partnership with UNICEF Kaduna Field Office for a 2 Day 2017 Basic Education Annual Review and 2018 Planning Meeting in Minna held yesterday.
The UNICEF Education Head Specialist, Malam Adamu Ndagi in an interview with journalists, said that, the partnership was aimed at providing quality education in Niger state and Nigeria hence to implement girl child education in the state.
Ndagi informed that the programme also involved mentoring of pupils and urged to make available funds as at when do to allowed ease flow of program without break.
He said that some of the constraints facing the initiative includes; security challenges in Munya, Rafi, Shiroro and other local governments where kidnapping, cattle rustling was being carried out.
