
The Zinariyan of Lokoja, Dr Ramatu Tijjani Aliyu, has expressed sadness over the death of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, a former governor of Abia State, and former Minister of Science and Technology.
Dr Aliyu made this known in a condolence message, saying that his death has created a vacuum, owing to his commitment and service to the nation.
She recalled his active role in the formation of the All Progressives Congress, adding that he’ll be missed by all.
She said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, a towering figure in Nigerian politics and a respected leader in the field of science and technology.
“As the former chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Dr Onu was exceptional, he was one of the founding fathers of our dear party, the All Progressives (APC). Having served as a former governor of Abia State, and former Minister of Science and Technology, his contributions to both the political landscape and the advancement of science in our nation were invaluable.
“Dr Onu will forever be remembered for his dedication to public service and commitment to the betterment of our society. His vision and leadership have left an indelible mark on our country.
“I sympathise with his family and loved ones in this difficult time. Please accept my heartfelt condolences, and know that my thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate through this period of grief.”
