Eggon youths endorse Al-makura for second term, insist on peaceful coexistence

By Ali Abare Abubakar

Eggon youths from across Nasarawa State, under the aegis of the Eggon Youths Progressive Forum, have endorsed Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura for a second term in office, even as they vowed to encourage peaceful coexistence among the people of the state.

Addressing a mammoth crowd that turned up at the Abacha Youth Centre yesterday, leader of the group, Ibrahim Gado, declared support for the second term ambition of Governor Al-makura, as well as that of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Change (APC), Gen Muhammadu Buhari.

Gado said it has become expedient for Eggon youths to tell the world the truth and to disabuse the minds of those thinking that the Eggon people have moved enmasse to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that such notions are but complete fallacies.

“We are here today to tell the world that we are together in this journey with Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura and Gen Muhammadu Buhari. It is not true that all Eggon people are members of the PDP” Gado stated.

He noted that despite attempts by some selfish Eggon leaders to hoodwink the people, the youths have decided to forge ahead and to denounce such leaders that call on to the people only when they needed to better their lot at the expense of the ordinary people.

While commending Governor Al-makura over what he has done to the Eggon nation, in spite of seeming hostilities, Gado dismissed claims that Al-makura has abandoned the Eggon people and is not carrying them along in his administration.

“We here rumours suggesting that Al-makura is not carrying along the Eggon people, but if you look across the state, no ethnic group benefited most from the APC administration than the Eggon nation. Is there any ethnic group in the state with four commissioners?

“Those selfish Eggon leaders look up to us, the youths to achieve their goals, but we are now saying that we are not ready to do their biddings.

“It is not true that Al-makura is behind the ethnic crises bedeviling the state. No true leader will engineer the killing of his subjects. All these are but mere fabrications by those who don’t wish the Eggon people well” Gado concluded.
