From: Femi Oyelola, Kaduna

The judicial panel of inquiry set up to investigate the excesses of the Nigerian police Force in Kaduna state, said they have received 46 petitions across the state.
This was contained in a statement issued to Newsmen by the Chairman of the Commission, rtd Justice David Shiri Wyom, shortly after the panel adjourned sitting to reconvene on 19th of January, 2021.
According to him, the panel has been up and doing to ensure that those with genuine complaints get justice after which those that needed to be compensated will be considered.
Justice David said, hopefully there will be progress in the next sitting, stressing that there is challenge of serving the respondents.
“We have resumed the hearing. So far we have received 46 petitions and the respondent for the sake of justice needed to come and defend themselves before any measure can be taken.
“The challenge we have is the difficulty in serving letter to the respondents. To get some of them is very difficult. That is why we had to adjourned the siting into one or two weeks so that they can be served after which they will come to defend themselves before the honourable panel.” He said.
