Former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Abubakar Lawal Yar’Adua, who is also the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Armiya’u Foundation of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has urged Engineers in the country to make a strong case for use of local contents in the development of the country.
The former GMD of NNPC spoke at the weekend as guest speaker at the 10th public lecture and award presentation by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) in Kaduna.
Yar’Adua, while stressing the importance of local contents which he noted could not be overemphasised, urged the Nigerian Society of Engineers never to be afraid of failure while rendering services to the nation.
“Local content is very important in developing our country. So, as Nigerian engineers, don’t be afraid of failure. If you failed, evaluate why you failed”.
According to him, ‘local content’ is very important in developing Nigeria as a country in terms of infrastructure.
