No fewer than 8680 small scale farmers have so far benefitted with free agricultural inputs under Jigawa state fadama Cares project.
This, was disclosed by the State Project Coordinator of fadama Cares Alhaji Aliyu Inuwa at the launching of the fifth phase of the program held at JASCO in Dutse.
He explained that, the agricultural inputs is given free of charge from the present administration in the state as part of its effort to empower farmers and promote agricultural production in Jigawa state.
According to him, the beneficiaries include 640 rice farmers, 640 Maize farmers, Millet farmers 1660 ans1400 Sorghum farmers whom were selected carefully across the 27 local government areas and the most vulnerable in the communities.
The state coordinator, who noted that the effort will boost agricultural production, added that it aimed at promoting food security and provide job opportunities through agriculture.
He however, called on the beneficiaries to use the inputs appropriately for achieving the desired goals of making Jigawa state greater and commended governor Malam Umar Namadi for his efforts towards improving agriculture in the state.
Responding, some of the beneficiaries commended governor Malam Umar Namadi for the support and promised to do all their best by using the inputs appropriately.
For one Malam Sale Sulaiman from Dundubus Dutse Local Government Area “as a farmer for many years, this is the first time I got free agricultural inputs from government.”
