The Super Falcon’s chief coach, Edwin Okon is proposing a maximum number of five international friendly matches for his team ahead of their participation at this year’s Africa Women Championship in Namibia.

Disclosing this to newsmen, Okon noted that though he is yet to submit his program for the championship, he stated that he will definitely include in the problem for the team to play that number of friendly matches.

He argued that his team would be fully ready for the Africa Women Championship by the time they are through with those friendly matches, maintaining that there is great need for the Nigeria team to regain the title which they lost to Equatorial Guinea at the last championship.

“I am still putting my program for the Africa Women Championship together and my plan is for the team to play five international friendly matches. Maybe, by the time the NFF goes through it they may approve the five or reduce it to four. The point is that the team must play series of friendly matches.

“We do not have to take the championship lightly as it is now obvious that other Africa countries have grown in women football. Look at Equatorial Guinea who is the defending champions how they were knocked out of this year’s championship. So, we have to work real hard,” he said.
