A fresh crisis has erupted within the All Progressives Congress in Osun State following allegations of certificate irregularities, vote manipulation and monetary inducement linked to the party’s primary election for the Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo Otin Federal Constituency.
The development has heightened tensions within the party as a civic coalition, Concerned Citizens of Osun State, petitioned the national leadership of the APC, demanding the disqualification of one of the leading aspirants, Hon. Eniade Francis Oluwadamilare.
The group, led by Segun Alokan and Omolara Sodiya, alleged that inconsistencies were discovered in the academic credentials submitted by the aspirant to the party.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, Alokan claimed that discrepancies existed between the aspirant’s West African Senior School Certificate and records obtained through the online verification platform of the West African Examinations Council.
According to him, the names appearing on the certificate differ from those reflected on the online records, while questions have also been raised over the photograph and naming structure on the document.
The group further alleged that similar inconsistencies were noticed in the aspirant’s National Examinations Council records, insisting that the issues deserved urgent investigation.
Beyond the controversy over academic qualifications, the petitioners alleged that the APC primary election was compromised through the manipulation of results.
Alokan claimed that the original outcome of the exercise was altered, resulting in the candidate who allegedly secured victory being displaced and another contender declared winner.
The coalition also accused political operatives linked to the aspirant of embarking on what it described as a campaign of financial inducement aimed at influencing key party stakeholders.
“We have received disturbing reports that certain individuals are moving from one stakeholder to another, allegedly deploying money and political pressure in a desperate bid to secure legitimacy for a candidature already burdened by serious questions,” Alokan said.
He warned that failure to address the allegations could damage the credibility of the APC and weaken confidence in its internal democratic processes.
Sodiya described the alleged discrepancies as significant and urged the party leadership to conduct a transparent and independent investigation.
She maintained that the controversy had gone beyond an individual aspirant and now posed a major test of the party’s commitment to accountability and due process.
The petitioners also accused unnamed political godfathers of attempting to shield the aspirant from scrutiny despite growing concerns among party members.
According to them, there appeared to be efforts to force through a candidature without adequately addressing questions surrounding the aspirant’s credentials and the conduct of the primary election.
The group called on the APC National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee to intervene and ensure that all allegations are thoroughly investigated.
They warned that ignoring the concerns could deepen divisions within the party and further fuel discontent among members ahead of future electoral contests.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the accused aspirant nor the APC leadership had publicly responded to the allegations.
The claims, however, have intensified scrutiny of the primary election and placed pressure on the party’s national leadership to act.
