The Mobgal Fulbe Development Association in Kaduna state has expressed dismay over the weekend raid on Ladduga communities and subsequent arrest of over 20 Fulani youths from the community by security operatives.
The Association, in a statement, signed by its Secretary-General, Ahmad Mairiga Yandeh, described the raid as intimidation and unnecessary, which according to him may jeopardize the peace enjoyed in the area.
“The Security operatives harassed people, refusing them to observe their early morning prayers and those who were found in the mosque were arrested and others tortured, including the district head, women and children.
“In the end, they arrested over 20 people without giving any reason for their arrest and without informing their family members where they are taking them to. This attitude is highly unprofessional and the association views this as an attempt to continue with the annihilation of the Fulbe in Ladduga.
“Our Fulbe in Ladduga have suffered a lot and are still suffering in respect to the crisis in the state and the nation in general. In the 2011 election violence alone, we lost more than 215 lives. Subsequent upon that, we have continued to experience attacks and killings of our people in the southern Senatorial zone.
“The association feels that this is a collaborative and calculated attempt to continue with the annihilation of the Fulbe of Ladduga and Southern Kaduna in general,” the statement read.
