Gbagyi women stage peaceful demonstration for Jonathan

For empowering indigenous women of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Gbagyi Women Association took to the street, to thank President Goodluck Jonathan, and declare support for him to continue in office beyond 2015.

At the rally, the demonstrating women they stressed the need for Jonathan’s re-election bid, so as to complete the good works started through the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed, in the Territory.

Speaking on behalf of the women, the Association’s chairperson, Mrs. Ladi Danladi recalled that the First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan had asked the FCT Minister to provide work for Gbagyi women.

“In spite that we are not educated, the Gbagyi women are today fully employed sweeping the streets of Abuja which has gone a long way to change our economic fortunes.’

“President Jonathan through the FCT Minister has upgraded our ‘Friday Market’ in Gossa, along the Airport Road, Abuja thereby improving our economic activities and well being,” she stressed.

On his part, the Secretary-General of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Organization, Comrade Yunusa Yusuf, said that he was at the rally to support what the women were doing because Jonathan through the FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed has empowered the original inhabitants of the FCT.

“President Goodluck Jonathan through the office of the FCT Minister has done so many things for the original inhabitants of FCT; he has been able to bring to the grassroots his Transformation Agenda.

“He has restored our hope as indigenes through his policies; he has assured us of political appointments in the next dispensation; so we are committed and have no other option than to support his re-election.

“We want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr. President for all he has done and intend to do for the original inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory and we wish to assure him of our 100% support,” Yusuf added.
