Unknown gunmen killed one person and injured five others along Koro dodo and Gobiya village in Bauchi state.

The gunmen whose number could be ascertained killed a motorcycle rider with a machete, just as they critically injured the driver of a Peugeot 806, who was returning from a market in Bogoro local government along with four other people in the vehicle.

The Police Public Relation Officer (PPPRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident to news men yesterday in Bauchi.

DSP Mohammed said three expanded live ammunition of 7.62mm was recovered at the scene and investigation is on top gear to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The PPRO added that all the victims of the attack were rushed to Bogoro Hospital and Jos University Teaching Hospital for treatment.

In a related development, unknown gunmen burnt down two primary schools and MTN mast sites in Darazo local government area of the state.

The Bauchi state Police Command’s Public Relation Officer (PPRO), DSP Haruna Mohammed confirmed this to news men yesterday in Bauchi saying the unknown gunmen burnt the following structures: (1) MTN mast site T.1137 and the surveillance monitoring site located adjacent to the mast; two primary schools namely Shadarki and Yelwan Darazo primary schools respectively. No casualty recorded.

The PPRO said the entire surroundings has been cordoned by combined security forces and efforts are being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects.
