Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has said he met the state in a terrible stste,maintaining that the task of rebuilding it, is idaunting.
Rev. Fr. Alia stated this on Sunday June 15th, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Outstation, Ityavkase, Mbaanyam in Ushongo LGA, on Sunday,during a thanksgiving organized by Hon. Murphy Ayila Torbua, to thank God dor the appointment of Sir Kula Tersoo as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), as well as the emergence of the Member representing Mbagwa State Constituency, Hon. Saater Tiseer, as the Majority Leader of the 10th Benue House of Assembly.
Represented by his Chief of Staff Rt. Hon. Paul Biam, Governor Alia emphasized that although the rebuilding process is going to be tasking,, he is not going to give excuses to the people of the state.
While appreciating the people for honouring Kula and Hon. Tiseer, Alia urged the people to pray and support the government to deliver on its campaign promises, stating that already, preparations are in top gear for work to begin on rehabilitation of some streets within the State capital, Makurdi.,
Chief Press Secretary to the governor of Benue State, Sir Kula Tersoo,said his appointment as the spokesman to governor Hyacinth Alia, is a demonstration of the governor’s genuine love for the people of Ushongo Local Government area.
The CPS charged the people of the LGA to always defend governor Alia and his policies, saying for the governor to have remembered the local government with such a strategic appointment in his early days in office, is an indication that he has the local government at heart, promising to join hands with Hon. Saater, to bring dividends of democracy to the people.
On the decision of the governor to suspend the council chairmen from office, Kula said, it became necessary for the council chairmen to step aside through suspension, to enable the State Assembly carry out a seamless investigation, over the cases of misappropriation alleged to have been carried out by the council chairmen.
According to him, since the executive arm of government acted on the memo suspending the council chairmen, there has been different untrue stories told the people at the local areas, hence the need to clarify the issue to his people, stating that the council chairmen have not been sacked, but are only on suspension pending the outcome of the investigation.
The majority Leader of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon.Saater Tiseer, said he was overwhelmed by the continued love shown him by the people of Mbagwa, promising to do his best to represent their interest.
Also in their remarks, the members of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Hon. Aondona Dajoh,
charged the people of the state to support the current crop of leaders to deliver good governance.
Earlier in his sermon, Rev. Fr. Moses Shawon, the Priest in charge of St. Stephen’s Parish Lessel, admonished the congregation to always act in truth and sincerity, saying it is the only way the society will become a better place for all.
