The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction on movement in four local government areas—Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru—from midnight on Saturday (today), August 16, 2025.

The Police explained that the measure is part of the security arrangements implemented in anticipation of the upcoming by-elections in these areas.

It added that the goal is to ensure public safety, prevent disruptions, and guarantee a smooth electoral process.

According to DSP Mansir Hassan, the Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Police Command, only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election responsibilities will be exempt from these restrictions.

The police command urges residents to comply with this directive and conduct themselves peacefully, cooperating with security agencies to ensure a successful election.

“The affected areas include Sabon Gari LGA, Zaria LGA, Chikun LGA, and Kajuru LGA.

“The announcement highlights that the purpose of the movement restrictions is to maintain law and order and prevent any breaches of the peace”, he added.

The command also emphasizes the importance of ensuring a smooth electoral process and maintaining a peaceful and orderly election. Residents are encouraged to work together with security agencies to achieve these objectives.
