Kano Mosque Blasts: NEMA distributes medical items

In continuation of supports for persons affected by the recent multiple bomb blasts that occurred at the Kano Central Mosque, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has distributed medical consumables and drugs to nine hospitals in Kano to strengthen the treatment of the victims in the hospitals.

Director General of NEMA Muhammad Sani Sidi stated in Kano that the distribution aimed at complementing the positive response of the hospitals that spontaneously accepted to treat the victims. He said “”We have brought this items to replenish the stock exhausted by the hospitals in the treatment of the victims of the Kano Central Mosque attack. It is not late because some of the patients are still in the hospitals.”

The Director General NEMA who was represented by its North west Zonal Coordinator Musa Illalah reaffirmed the commitment of the Federal Government to support the quick recovery of the victims. He also commended the health workers in the state for suspending their

industrial actions for the sake of the victims and returning to back to support them in their various hospitals. He gave details of the distribution as being made up of 31 different

medical items distributed according to the number of victims in the hospitals which are the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, National Orthopedic Hospital Dala, Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Sir Sanusi Hospital, Armed Forces Hospital, Sheikh Jiddah Hospital, Khadija Hospital and Waziri Gidado Hospital and Muhammad Abdullahi Wase hospital.

Kano State Commissioner of Health Dr Labaran Yusuf who received the drugs on behalf of the state government before the distribution appreciated the Federal Government through NEMA for the kind gesture.

Speaking on behalf of the benefitting hospitals, the Cheif Medical Director of the National Orthopedic Hospital Dr Salihu Muhammad assured that the medical items would be judiciously used for the benefit of the victims. The items included lysol solution, chromic sutures, chromic cat gut, vicryl, inj cetriazone, pentazocine, saline and metronidazole amongst others.
