Nasarawa govt partners National Museum on cultural advancement

Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Honourable Danladi Dogo Shammah has said that, the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule is fully determined and committed to partner with the National Museum Commission and Monument in the state in order to promote the tradition and culture of the diverse ethnic groups in the state.
Shammah who stated this when a team from the National Museum Commission Lafia led by the state Curator, Mr. Dakam Joseph Dakup paid him a Courtesy Visit in his office in Lafia, the state capital yesterday.
He described the visit as timely as well as significant to the development of the state.
According to him, “Museums serve as tourist sites potential. It tells people about their cultural values. It is a fulcrum of development of every nation. It promotes unity amongst communities, states and nation:.
The Commissioner further assured that government would do its possible best in ensuring that Museum takes its place effectively in the state so as to keep the traditions and culture of the state alive.
“I lament today, most children cannot speak their mother tongue. I urge you to bring the idea as well as create avenues where people of the state can imbibe their traditions and cultural values,” Dogo added.
In his remark, the Curator, National Museum Lafia, Dakan Joseph Dakup, said the visit was aimed at collaborating with the state ministry in order to let the people know some of the programmes of the National Museums in the state.
His words, “National Museum Lafia is a place where researchers and students can come in, let people know that museum is existing in the state. We are embarking on programmes that would add value to our tradition and culture in the state”.
He further assured that the museum is committed to train schools in the three senatorial districts of the state on various skills; adding that Nasarawa is a place that National Museum can play its vital role.
