National Economic Council lauds BIPC industrial revolution in Benue

The National Economic Council, NEC, has lauded the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited, BIPC for its pivotal role in driving Benue State’s industrial revolution and economic transformation.

Dr. Gloria Ahmed, Director of Special Duties overseeing NEC affairs, gave the commendation during a joint monitoring meeting with the National Council Implementation Monitoring Committee at the company’s headquarters in Makurdi.

Dr. Ahmed commended BIPC for aligning with national development goals and contributing significantly to local economic growth, job creation, and industrial expansion.

In a paper presentation titled “BIPC’s Contribution to Benue’s Socio-Economic Landscape and Its Role in Implementing NEC & JPB/NCDP Resolutions (2023–2024)”, the Group Managing Director of BIPC, Dr. Raymond Asemakaha highlighted the company’s recent strides in creating over 474 direct and over 3,080 indirect jobs for the teeming youths of the state, manufacturing, investment diversification, and public-private partnerships.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor, admonished the students to shun vices that can jeopardize their chosen career. He recalled the numerous milestones the institution had achieved within 3 years of its existence. He said the school currently rank 3rd in Nigeria and best amongst the state owned Universities in the 2018 Open Educational Resources ranking of Nigeria Universities by the National Universities Commission (NUC). He also said the ivory tower also maintain the lead among Nigeria and West Africa Universities to acquire the CANVAS Learning Management System (LMS) for teaching in the University. He enjoined the matriculants to make the best use of the facilities available in the university so that they can become well-grounded and employable after graduation from the University. The Vice Chancellor revealed that of the 750 Candidates offered admission by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to study in the University, 450 students were given provisional admissions.

He emphasized BIPC’s commitment to harnessing Benue’s agricultural strengths to build sustainable industrial platforms.

Leading the NEC delegation, Professor Jerome Andohol, Director General of the Benue State Budget and Economic Planning Commission, expressed appreciation for BIPC’s vision and implementation capacity.

He noted that BIPC has become a model for sub-national investment companies across the federation.
