The Niger state government has concluded arrangement to construct additional 1000 housing units in which Suleja and Minna will get 500 housing units each before the end of this year.

Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu who made this known when he hosted the management of an indigenous firm that will handle the project, said the idea is to reduce housing deficit facing the two towns in the state.

Governor Aliyu has directed the ministry of lands to make available the necessary documents to the construction firm so as to commence work immediately on the sites.

He admonished the company to ensure that they kept to the terms of the agreement adding that government will not hesitate to revoke the contract if the company was found to be in breach of the agreement.

Aliyu noted that the administration had gone into partnership with many companies to provide cheap and decent houses for the people because of its belief that if people were made to live in decent environment they will give their best to the service of the state and the nation.

Earlier, the Project Coordinator, Mr Benjamin Charles assured the governor that the project will be delivered within the contract period as the company was sure of credit facilities from commercial institutions so long as the government played its part of the agreement.

He said government will be expected to provide social amenities in the estates. Before now the state government has constructed houses in Minna, Bida Kontagora and Suleja for middle level and high income earners as well as for the general public at subsidized rates.
