Niger State Government has concluded plans the revival of the monthly sanitation programme with effect from September to ensure better environment and prevent out break of diseases by ensuring a healthy and condusive state.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Binta Mamman made this known while addressing journalists after the maiden State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the government house, Minna.
She added that the present governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s led administration will focus on social amenities, sustainable economy, good governance and urban renewal to improve standard of living for its citizens.
Binta Mamman further said the policies are underway to foster long-term economic growth and create jobs while balancing environmental concerns.
According to her, the governor has authorized a waiver to expedite the employment of qualified healthcare professionals to address shortage of health workers experienced in the state.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Barrister Maurice Magaji hinted that the state government will take advantage of the vast land and its proximity to the Federal Capital, Abuja for revenue generation, assuring that the one hundred and twenty billion naira annual target of the state government IGR is achievable.
Magaji said some of the strategies to be deployed by his Ministry to boost revenue generation, especially in Minna, Suleja, Bida, Kontagora and New Bussa are payment of ground rent, consent fee, and transfer of ownership fees among others.
Also, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Alhaji Aminu Suleiman Takuma explained that the administration of Governor Bago is in discussion with foreign and domestic direct investors towards achieving a sustainable economy with special emphasis on investment inflow strategy to boost revenue generation of the state.
