Nigeria’s 64th independence: Wike preaches resilience, togetherness

As Abuja residents observed the 64th Independence anniversary of Nigeria, the FCT minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike has admonished them to demonstrate resilience and lead the charge in building the Nigeria of their dreams.
Wike urged every resident to reflect on the spirit of the national day and take personal and collective responsibility for the development of their communities.
Also, in his message to residents of the territory on the occasion of the 2024 national day celebrations, the minister urged everyone to stand together to support security efforts, promote peace, protect the environment and be their brother’s keeper.
According to him: “As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we occupy a special place in the heart of our nation. Abuja, as the seat of government, symbolizes the unity of our people from all corners of Nigeria.
“It is a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions, all coexisting harmoniously. This unique blend of diversity is not just a strength but the hope for a brighter future.
“We felicitate with his Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR as he courageously takes the bold and necessary measures essential for the growth and development of Nigeria as a strong, virile and indivisible nation.
“This year’s Independence Day comes at a time when we, as a nation, are faced with significant challenges—economic, security, and social. However, as the capital city and the heart of the nation, we must demonstrate resilience and lead the charge in building the Nigeria of our dreams.”
Furthermore, Wike assured all residents of the FCT Administration remains committed to the infrastructural development of the Territory, enhancing security, providing quality services, and improving the overall quality of life for everyone in the nation’s capital.
“In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, we must commit to fostering national unity and progress.
“We remain committed to creating an inclusive society where opportunities abound for all, and no one is left behind.
“The FCT is at the forefront of these efforts, and we will continue to ensure that Abuja remains a symbol of hope, a center for opportunities, and a place of peace for all Nigerians.
“Let us also take this opportunity to celebrate our collective achievements, honour our diversity, and look forward to a brighter future together.
“We must also not forget to reflect on the sacrifices of our gallant men and women in uniform who continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of residents”, he stressed.
