Ogun LG polls: OGSIEC to publish list of successful candidates Monday

Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), has said list of successfully screened candidates will be published on Monday, October 14, 2024.
Chairman of the Commission, Mr Babatunde Osibodu, said this during the just concluded screening exercise, at the Commission’s headquarters, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta.
Mr. Osibodu expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the exercise, explaining that verification of candidates was zoned into the three Senatorial Districts of the state, to make the process seamless, as well as allow candidates return to their destination on time.
While assuring political parties of carrying out a thorough process, he said, “I have said it times without number that, you should trust the process. I guarantee you that at the end of it, everybody will see that we are fair”.
Also speaking, one of the Commissioners at the Commission, Mr. Tunji Akoni, encouraged aspirants to engage with voters directly and ensure their campaigns get to the grassroots, reassuring that OGSEIC would be committed at conducting free, fair and credible elections.
In her remarks, another Commissioner in the Commission, Mrs Gbemi Onasanya, stressed the need for parties to present trustworthy and loyal party agents, who would protect their votes on election day.
In their separate remarks, some candidates at the screening exercise, Mr. Azeez Balogun from Abeokuta South, his counterpart from Odogbolu, Mr Babatunde Diya and Mr Theophilus Olorode from Imeko Afon Local Government, commended the Commission for its level of preparedness, noting that the screening was conducted professionally.
