Parents, religious leaders tasked on supporting polio vaccination

In order to ensure effective immunization of children against polio, parents and religious leaders have admonished to improve their support and cooperation with immunization officials, in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This call was against the backdrop of a recent round of immunization of polio in FCT.
One of the officials that supervised the exercise in Bwari Area Council, Shuaibu Aishetu, stressed the importance of better understanding of stakeholders especially parents and religious leaders, in order to achieve its objective.
Aishetu made this point while speaking on challenges affected the smooth running of the exercise in the area.
She decried that during the exercise, it was discovered that some religion leaders were shielding children in their various institutions from taking the vaccine.

She noted that as a supervisor in Kogo 1, area of the council, there is the need for concern authorities to seek better cooperation of religious leaders and parents in the area, for future exercise.
She therefore called for sensitisations on the need for cooperation with health workers to have a successful polio free nation.
