Police arrest 4 kidnappers and parade armed robbery suspects in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers in Mubi South Local Government Area of the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Moses Jitoboh, who confirmed the arrest while briefing newsmen in Yola said the suspects were arrested while demanding N5 million from a farmer, Iliya Jahadi, after sending a threatening letter with a live bullet to him asking him to pay the money or risk kidnapping with serious consequences.
Jitoboh also said that the command had also arrested three suspects in connection with the stealing of 120 computers belonging to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, adding that so far three of the computers had been recovered from the suspects.
Jitoboh said that about 20 other suspects were also arrested in five separate incidents in connection with armed robbery with dangerous weapons and ammunitions recovered.
“The suspected armed robbers arrested are currently undergoing interrogation at the state CID Yola, while the suspects with stolen properties recovered, have been charged to court.
“With the police existing crime prevention and detection strategies, I am optimistic that good people of Adamawa state will witness improved police service delivery that will lead to the reduction of crime wave in the state to appreciable level. The police will continue to collaborate with security agencies in the state,” Jitoboh said.
Jitoboh disclosed how three suspects were arrested for breaking into the INEC warehouse and carting away 120 laptops from the office of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He gave their names as Atiku Mohammed Musa, Timothy T. Linah and Yunusa Adamu stating that three of the computers have been recovered while the suspects have been charged to Court.
He also said the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested five suspected armed robbers who robbed and killed one Shuaibu Umar of Wuro Jabbe of his Tricycle (Keke Napep) with registration No. GMB. 285 QD valued at N690,000.
“Our team of SARS intercepted a gang of three Robbers killing one and arresting two after a gun duel while one locally made revolver with six rounds of live ammunition, two machetes and four handsets recovered.
“C.I.D. equally arrested one Okash Umar (28) for stealing a Toyota Highlander Jeep belonging to one Alhaji Mosummola of Lagos State while two accomplices are said to be at large as both suspect and the jeep have been taken to Trinity Division, Lagos”.said Jitoboh.
