The principal of the School for the Gifted in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Samuel Okpe, has called on the meaning Nigerians to assist the school by providing funds in order to purchase sporting facilities for the use of the students.
Okpe, who made the call while presenting an address at the 15th inter-house sports competition, held at the school’s sports ground in Gwagwalada, noted that the school’s sporting facilities were overstretched due to the increase in the number of students.
He said: “Here, the school management has provided table tennis, handball, volleyball and football facilities for the students to exercise themselves on sports designated days”.
According to him, sporting facilities play significant role in the overall development of a sound and mentally alert of individuals.
The principal, however, expressed joy the manner at which the FCT Secondary Education Board had been encouraging and promoting sporting activities as well as inter-house sports competitions in schools in the territory.
At the end of the sports competitions, Red House topped the 1st position, the 2nd position went to Green House and the Blue House took the 3rd position.
