Senatorial primary: APC screens out ex IGP

By Umar Muhammad Puma

The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified former Inspector-General of Police, Barr. Suleiman Abba, from contesting for the Party’s Jigawa South Senatorial District ticket.
The party had in a list earlier released, cleared the former IGP to contest for the senatorial seat of the Jigawa South senatorial zone.
However, Yekini Nabena, the acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, in a statement issued yesterday said Barr. Suleiman Abba’s name was erroneously included in the list of the NWC-cleared aspirants.
He did not give details for disqualifying the former police boss.
Findings by the Peoples Daily revealed that the reason may not be unconnected with a petition by a group known as Jigawa Coalition for Youths Awareness, which accused the former police chief of belonging to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
