Sexual assault: ADSU suspected randy lecturer remanded in prison

A suspected randy lecturer with Adamawa State University (ADSU) Mubi, Danjuma Garandi Ijudigal has been remanded in prison custody for allegedly raping a 24 year old female secondary school student.
Reports had it that, Ijudigal who is attached to Geography Department of the University was said to have allegedly lured and molested his victim (name withheld) at his office on Sunday,the 7th January.2024.
Sources who volunteered information on the matter to this reporter under condition of anonimity said that the suspect, Ijudigal who is the examination officer of the department (Geography) was reported to Magistrate court ll in Mubi by the parents of the victim but were asked to involve the police for proper investigation.
Similarly, the said lecturer was arrested on the 12th January.2024 for the rape allegation levelled against him.
Spokesman of the state police command,SP Sulaiman Nguroje while confirming the development in Yola weekend said the incident was first taken to the court without police involvement but was redirected to the police by the court.
Nguroje said when his attention was drawn to the case, he enquired from the DPO of the area and was told that the case was first taken to the court without a police report but the court reverted to the police for a detailed investigation.
Continueing Nguroje added that the police investigation commenced on the case as the court remanded the lecturer in Mubi correctional facility.
Reacting to the matter the vice chancellor of Adamawa State University, Dr. Steven Lagu told the media via text message that, he is constrained to comment on the issue as it is currently before a court of law.
“The matter is in court, so I’m constrained to make any statement on it. Thanks a million,” Dr Lagu said.
