Sokoto PDP youth leader preaches peace

Date:

From Raji Bello, Sokoto

Sokoto state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader, Alhaji Nasiru Gidan Kanawa has described violence of any kind in politics as old fashioned, stressing that violence is capable of destroying the image and political popularity of politicians.

Alhaji Gidan Kanawa made the assertion in Wamakko at the flag-off rally of the Goodluck Jonathan Volunteers Vanguard (GEJ Volunteers) organised by the PDP Wamakko local government Youth Forum in Wamakko which consist of hundreds of the youths across the eleven wards of the local government as volunteers of President Goodluck Jonathan re-election campaign.

Kanawa noted that political violence is another way of exhibiting lack of political maturity and recognition from the people by those who have failed in politics.

He described the level of reported violence and political thuggery in Sokoto State and other places across the country as the handiwork of some enemies of progress within the state, who were either demoralized or afraid with the level of support and political goodwill of President Jonathan’s administration across the country.

The youth Leader assured that Sokoto State is a peaceful place, and will continue to remain the same in spite of provoked statements carried in the media by some hired political mercenaries, who are hiding under the names of human rights or opposition parties to brand the leader in bad image.

He cautioned politicians, especially those peddling rumours and lies about religious or ethnicity on the party’s flag bearer, as they should learn to live with truth and peace as those who lived in the glass houses need not to be throwing stone.

He stated that PDP supporters in Sokoto State are peace loving and no matter what, they will not be engaged in violence.

“We shall never engage our youths or sponsor anybody to engage in violence, we are peace lovers and it is our firm belief that, without peace nothing could be achieved” Kanawa said.

He therefore called on the PDP supporters, especially, youths not to be provoked by the shout and destruction of their offices or bill boards as reason of determining the political supremacy between them.
