*Says without justice, there can’t be peace
*As NASFAT launches history book in Abuja
By Lateef Ibrahim, Abuja
The Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has harped on the pertinent need for the nation’s leaders to be just and fair, pointing out that there can not be peace and development without justice.
This is even as he blamed most of the crises and absurd things happening in the country and the world presently on lack of education.
The Sultan spoke on Wednesday at the launch of NASFAT History Book at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua centre in Abuja.
At the well attended event, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar emphatically declared that justice is the foundation of any society.
According to him, “We want peace in our country. We can not have peace without justice. Justice is the foundation of any society.
“As Shehu Uthman Dan Fodio said, ‘a nation can endure with unbelief, but it can not endure with injustice’. So let face justice in whatever we do.
“Our leaders, our followers, always, should be just in whatever we do. And i believe conscience is an open wound, only truth can heal it.
“Let’s tell ourselves the home truth in whatever we do, how we do things and let’s believe in Almighty Allah, as the owner of heaven and Earth”, he said.
The Sultan of Sokoto blamed most of the negative and absurd things happening in the country as well as the world on lack of education.
He expressed the firm conviction that with adequate education, most crises globally will be averted.
According to him, ‘We know the importance of education. Our forefathers knew what education is all about and they have their own focus on educating people.
“And it is in the process of educating people that the leadership of people came about. You educate somebody and he becomes an educated person and he becomes an asset to you and to the community.
‘But somebody who is not educated is a very big problem. And that is what we are facing in this country and in this world.
“Lack of education is pushing people to do things they they are not supposed to do because Almighty Allah abhors those things they are doing. And that’s why we don’t have peace of minds, in our places of worship and what ever it is in this world.
“That’s why we are having crises all over the world. Because we have put aside our Creator, our sustainer as the Almighty who does everything at all the time he wants”, he submitted.
Earlier in his address, the President of NASFAT, Alh. Ayodeji Abdulrauf called
on all faith-based organizations to assume a greater role in providing social-service programs without breaching the separation of faiths and beliefs,
According to him, “It is our priority to support the government at all levels”.
Speaking about the history book that was launched, Alhaji Abdulrauf said, “This book is not just a record of where we’ve been, but a guidepost for where we are going. It reminds us of our core values-prayer, education, youth development, women empowerment, dawah, and humanitarian service.
“It also reminds us of the responsibilities that come with growth to remain principled, united, and future-focused”, he said.
