2027: We will demystify the Obidients’ movement– APC

Ahead of the 2027 elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has vowed to demystify the Obidients’ movement by matching them toe to toe in every sphere to ensure victory for President Bola Tinubu.

National Youth Leader of the party, Dayo Israel who revealed this at a press conference in Abuja said the youth wing of the APC has what it takes to sell President Tinubu to Nigerians, given his well documented achievements which he said has started yielding economic benefits.

Israel who also used the opportunity to showcase the APC National Young Resource Centre said the APC is prepared for leadership more than any other political party to lead the country to the path of prosperity and growth.

“I think the reality is that there’s no institution that is rising as fast as the APC National Youth wing. This place, where you are sitting now today, is an example. We are prepared.The youth of our party are now ready to take things on.

“What we have here is equivalent to some political parties national secretariat. It shows the importance of we, the youth wing of the APC, how we want to be ready for 2027 election. We’re not scared of anybody. We say to them, bring it on.

“We will show you that our president has done so much that we will now begin to project and communicate in the way the youth understand to ensure that the Nigerian youth can appreciate the effort and the work of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. So we’re not intimidated by anybody. We are here to actually intimidate them and show them that APC youth wing, we stand ‘gidi-gbah”‘!

According to him, there is no other political party that has the kind of structure that is available in the APC, ranging from the office of the National Leader to ward and polling unit youth leaders.

“We have a National Youth Leader, by the grace of God, myself. I have a deputy. We have the zonal youth leaders in the six political zone. We have 36 state youth leaders and they have deputies. We have 109 senatorial youth leaders.We have 774 local government youth leaders and other LCDA youth leaders. We have 8,864 ward youth leaders and over 100,000 polling unit youth leaders.

“So part of what we want to now begin to do is to energise that base, to begin to engage them from the headquarters here. We want to, that’s why we’re setting up an operational system that will begin to run trainings for our youth in the grassroots. When you have all of those structures in place and you are activating those structures, you are also empowering them”.

Israel who is also a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC said time has come for every stakeholder to begin to make the party to appeal to young people.

“We have come out on our own and put our little pennies together, as young members of the party, because we realised that we have a lot of work to do to increase the appeal of our party to the younger generation. And that is one of the reasons why we have had to set up this Youth Resource Centre, so that we can begin to engage the younger generation, widely, through things that have interest to them”.

He also noted that already the policies of the present administration have started impacting benefits on the lives of the young people and their families.

“You would agree that things like the student loan, for example, is helping to alleviate poverty, educational poverty for some families. We’ve also realised that a lot of people have not harnessed that opportunity and that platform. We’re going to be also here, through our media department, pushing the agenda and the activities of the administration”.

On how to fund the project, the National Youth Leader said he believes that when other party stakeholders begin to feel the impact of what they are doing, they took will key in to support the initiative.
