A 29- year-old tailor, Gado Yahaya has been arraigned before a Kaduna Magistrates’ for killing his neighbour, identified as Liman Salisu during an argument over a bucket of water
While addressing the Court yesterday, Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo alleged that Yahaya killed his neighbour with a pestle during their fight over the bucket of water.
According to him, In the course of the fight, the defendant went into the kitchen, picked a pestle and hit the deceased on his head.
“The deceased slumped immediately and died on their way to the hospital.
“The defendant had earlier written and signed a confessional statement when he was brought to the police station for questioning,”
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, declined to take the suspect’s plea on the grounds that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 190 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
Mr. Emmanuel, however, directed the police to forward the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
